Social Events: April to October 2018

Tuesday Evening, April 24th Talk: Tonight we welcome Sue Woodcock to give her talk ‘Copper to Shepherd’, a humorous account of her fascinating life; a tale not to be missed.

Sunday, June 10th, 110th Anniversary Lunch:  Traditionally the Club has celebrated its ‘birthday’ every 10 years.  This year the Club is 110 years old and to celebrate this milestone there will be an Anniversary Lunch at the Principal Hotel (formally Royal York). For further details and booking, please see the final page of this Newsletter. It would be nice to see friends old and new.

Tuesday, Aug 21st, Full day excursion Kilburn/Ampleforth:  This year our annual full day excursion will include a visit to the ‘Mousey’ Thompson workshop at Kilburn, lunch in Ampleforth followed by a tour of Ampleforth Abbey.  Full details of the itinerary and cost will be circulated when finalised.

Tuesday evening, Sept 25th, Archive Evening:  Once again Alan Woodward presents a nostalgic evening looking back at past times and rambles.  The photographs to be shown record the Club’s history and feature members past and present.  This is always a popular evening.

Tuesday evening, Oct 23rd, Mansion House Restoration:  The Lord Mayor’s residence, the Mansion House has recently undergone extensive restoration.  Richard Pollitt tells the story of the restoration giving details of the new features of the house and reveals the interesting finds during the course of restoring the house to its former glory.
